Yes. Coverage is available for international drivers and for drivers without existing personal insurance. Policies are generally issued on an excess basis; however, drop-down provisions apply such that coverage functions as primary for international or uninsured drivers. To promote prudent risk management, policies typically include deductibles of $5,000 or higher.
Generally excess. Our rental policy is issued on an excess basis above an attachment point.
A primary policy is the first layer of insurance that responds to a covered loss; it pays before any other policy.
An excess policy sits above primary insurance and responds only after the primary policy’s limits are exhausted.
Attachment point: The policy attaches at the greater of (i) the stated attachment point or (ii) the limits of any collectible primary insurance applicable to the rental.
Drop-down: For international or uninsured drivers, drop-down provisions apply so the policy functions as primary (subject to terms, conditions, and deductibles).
Wide eligibility. We insure most rented vehicles and watercraft, including exotic and luxury cars, standard cars, side-by-sides/UTVs, Slingshots, ATVs, jet skis/PWCs, snowmobiles, and boats (up to $500,000 stated value). In short: if you rent it, we can likely cover it—subject to underwriting, territorial limits, and policy terms.
Online purchase typically takes about 5 minutes, and proof of coverage is issued instantly upon bind—available to download, email, or present at the rental counter.
Yes. Additional drivers may be added for an additional premium—either a one-time charge per driver or a per-day fee, depending on the product. All listed drivers must be contractually authorized by the rental agency to operate the vehicle for coverage to be valid.
Yes—subject to eligibility. We insure any driver who is legally permitted to operate a motor vehicle, subject to underwriting, including a clean driving record (e.g., no DUI, no criminal speeding, and a clean recent accident history). Minimum age requirements are set by the rental agency, and our coverage follows the agency’s contractual driver-eligibility rules.
Call the police and obtain a report number.
Seek medical attention if anyone is injured.
Move to a safe location and prevent further damage if possible.
Document the scene: take photos of all vehicles, surroundings, license plates, rental agreement, driver’s licenses, and insurance cards; collect names, phone numbers, and insurance details of all parties and witnesses.
Do not admit fault or make payments at the scene.
Notify Inuity Claims the same day or next business day at 888-965-7199.
You may also file a First Notice of Accident (FNOL) online via your policyholder portal.
Inform the rental agency per your rental contract and retain all correspondence.
Preserve evidence: keep estimates, invoices, tow/repair receipts, and any dash-cam footage.
In plain terms: Coverage excludes criminal conduct (e.g., DUI, criminal speeding) and reckless or grossly negligent behavior. Insurance is not a license to take unnecessary risks. Do not drive recklessly or misuse the vehicle simply because you have a policy—those actions are not covered and may void coverage. Always operate the rental lawfully and responsibly.
Key exclusions (summary, not exhaustive): operation 19+ mph over the limit; racing, stunts, exhibitions, or use on tracks/off-road/non-standard surfaces; DUI/drugs, reckless/gross negligence, or other criminal traffic violations; unauthorized/unlisted or unlicensed drivers; commercial/for-hire use (rideshare, delivery, chauffeur); violations of law or the rental agreement; mechanical/electrical failure, wear and tear, improper fueling, over-rev/launch control, overloading, leaving keys/unsecured; out-of-territory use (e.g., Mexico) without endorsement; fraud/misrepresentation; pre-existing damage; government seizure, war/terrorism, nuclear/radiation; pollution claims; punitive/exemplary damages; property in your care/custody/control; household/employee injury limitations; and activities like driver training or transport-for-hire. Always see the policy for full terms, conditions, and exclusions.
Physical damage and liability limits are set in coordination with the rental agency and typically range from $50,000 up to $2,000,000 per occurrence. Deductibles generally start as low as $1,000, with higher options common based on underwriting and vehicle type.
Our insurance contracts are deemed made and delivered within the jurisdiction of the Modoc Nation, a federally recognized Indian tribe, and are governed exclusively by Modoc Nation law (including its courts/tribal dispute-resolution procedures). The temporary or ongoing use of a rental vehicle or watercraft anywhere else does not alter the policy’s situs or governing law. Inuity Insurance is not admitted in any U.S. state, and no provision of any Inuity policy shall be construed as a submission to any state’s insurance licensing or regulatory regime, except as expressly required by applicable law.
